Here are two of the latest high-tech gadgets that can save you money on energy bills.

KVAR to the rescue: As the cost of energy rises, there’s growing hope as well as controversy brewing over “capacitive resistance” devices such as the KVAR Energy Controller.

Company president Steve Fish calls it “the product your power company doesn’t want you to know exists.”

Yes, he allows, some doubters demean it, and imitators have been copying it. But Underwriters Laboratory has approved the device and multiple patents have been granted its inventor, Gregory Gene Taylor.

A U.S. Department of Energy study confirms its value, and respected builders have recommended it to their customers. So, too, did a contractor (Wes Carver Electrical) recently working in my house on another project.

As Carver explained it to me, the product reduces the amount of nonproductive current loaded onto your home power system by the inefficiencies of induction motors.

At the heart of air conditioners, refrigerator/freezers, washing machines, pool pumps, fans and fish tank pumps, induction motors operate with a magnetic-field-shifting technology that causes the power voltage (the potential energy) to get out of sync with the current (the flow of energy).

As a consequence, extra current is pulled through the meter, only to be dissipated by the motor as heat — a waste of juice and a product life shortener.

The KVAR Energy Controller box uses feedback from the motors and heavy-duty storage capacitors to rebalance and maximize the “power factor,” slowing the flow through the meter.

Literature supplied by KVAR distributor Wired 2 Save LLC touts savings of “up to 25 percent on your electric bill.” But to achieve that level of payback, you’ve got to be running a convenience store lined with refrigerators, or a big plant with heavy-duty motors cranking all day and all night.

On my home front, a Carver electrician connected the KVAR box to the top breaker on my service panel (the job took him all of 15 minutes) and flipped it on. I could immediately see the rotating wheel on my power meter slowing down a bit.

The electrician then attached, temporarily, a meter that measured power drain from the left and right “legs” of the circuit board. When the KVAR device was engaged, it produced a 5 percent reduction on one leg and a 10 percent reduction on the other.

A subsequent energy audit by Schwenck confirmed the same overall results: a 7.5 percent power saving.

This test was conducted in the midst of summer, when multiple air conditioners in my house were going full blast. In a hot month, I spend an insane $300 a month just to power the A.C. By my calculations, the KVAR device cut that bill by about $22.

Power Factor Correction – Can Residential Units Actually Save Money?

Written by Gary Bricker

Energy Residential EfficiencyThe KVAR (PFC), increases the efficiency at which induction motors operate therefore, reducing the amount of electrical usage or amperage. Amperage is the actual amount of electricity being drawn by any device, whether a motor or a light bulb this fact does not change.

With this in mind, an example of this is a standard washing machine motor draws approx. 6.0amps or 720 watts. After introducing a power factor correction device the amount of amperage dropped from 6.0 to 1.7 or 204 watts. So we can see that is a reduction of energy usage or electrical draw of 1/3 or 30%, and this is just one of many motors in most residential homes.

We have all been told by the experts that if we change all our incandescent light bulbs to compact florescent light bulbs we can save money on our electric bills, most incandescent light bulbs in a home are 100watt to 60watt, and most compact florescent bulbs range from 19watts to 13watts so what is the difference? Absolutely Nothing!

One thing that we all need to remember is that we are talking to an Electric Company and not an Electric Organization, they are in the industry to make a profit not take donations. Now with that being said, lets assume every household installed a Power Factor Correction Device and has the minimum savings of 6%, that equates to billions of dollars the Electrical Utility Companies stand to loose in profits. Need there be more to say?

By installing an energy controller device most residential users can expect to see a savings of 6% to 20% on their electric bills. Keep in mind that their are many impostors out there the KVAR (PFC) is the only residential unit that is represented by the inventor Gregory Taylor.

"KVAR Power For Green Energy Efficiency"

Written by Vanessa Mae

Power for Green - Save moneyIs it possible to save up to 30% on your home electricity bill every month? And what are Kilo Volt Amp Reduction untis? Kilo Volt Amp Reduction (KVAR) is comprised of a series of capacitors inside the unit. These capacitors work like a energy bank, to amass unused electrical power that might otherwise be returned to the source, unfortunately the power that is returned is not credited to your account, you are still billed for it.

Okay, so the Kilo Volt Amp Reduction hardware functions by storing electrical energy, then releasing the unused electricity when the demand is required by a motor load, or induction load, thus increasing the performance and decreasing the load which means that you are more efficient with power usage. A higher performance and lower cost reduces the load and hence the bill you pay at the end of the month

There are a few considerations when purchasing a Amp Reduction Device. It improve your electrical usage by being more efficient with load on motors in your home, therefore extending the life of your appliances and devices. Also optimizing the efficiency by with your appliances operate. The less power an Electrical Power Provider needs to supply to you the lower your monthly costs and spending.

On average a consumer may save around 15% on average with bigger savings to consumers who have heavier loads such as motor operated appliances like refrigerators, washers, dryers, fans etc. So if you run many of these, you will expect to save more on your monthly bill. Visit us for some case studies and live demonstrations, but more about that later.

Does the Kilo Volt Amp Reduction hardware save you money, this being a fact is a resounding positive, the only question would be how much. But everyone will gladly accept the fact that no matter what the percentage, savings is a given and it works wonderfully.

For those weighing up the cost of a Kilo Volt Amp Reduction hardware versus the cost of purchase and installation, just rest assured that you will save money, most definitely as well as conserve energy. Best of all though is that this device is considered Green, and you local council or government may be giving you a rebate on this unit.

Beware Of Impostors! Ensure you purchase your Kilo Volt Amp Reduction hardware from a licensed representative in your area. We can also put you in touch with approved contractors to make the installation of your Kilo Volt Amp Reduction hardware quick and easy.
